"FRAGMENTS" de ALESSANDRA GENUALDO 3 junio a 25 julio 2020
La Galería Échale Guindas presenta una nueva exposición de nuestra querida Alessandra Genualdo.
'Fragments’ is a collection of original gouache and coloured pencil portraits of women and floral elements, in which the flowers associated with each character complement and reflect their essence. The whole series is based on the research of non conventional beauty, which is seen by the artist as beauty in itself. The portraits are the result of a research and investigation of what is considered beautiful, and how the artist mirrors herself in some of the women portrayed, what qualities she attributes to them, hence to herself. The overall feel is of softness, delicacy. Together with a series of individual portraits and flowers, this project includes a few bigger paintings created like a collage on a single sheet of paper, where portraits of women and details of their features are layered or ‘cut out’ (or painted out) onto a floral pattern background. This new series of work is a continuation on the artist’s constant investigation of what it is to be a woman, and how she experiences it from her very personal point of view. The contrast between the soft colours and ephemeral materials, and the stern, austere look of the characters, is a reflection of the conflicting feelings of softness and strength, compassion and anger, enjoyment and melancholia, experienced by the artist as a woman.
